DIRECTORS MESSAGE: PARIS FASHION WEEK PRE AW25

DIRECTORS MESSAGE: PARIS FASHION WEEK PRE AW25

I am back from Paris, where Men’s Fashion Week and the AW25 pre-collections were in full swing. Lots and lots of chatter about all the creative director’s movements and making hit predictions.

The shows were remarkable, with Junya Watanabe’s Menswear runway show, drawing from the TV series Landman, standing out as a major highlight. I also loved seeing both men and women on the Y-3 and Sacai runways. Patou was extra special, blending evening glamour with sophisticated daywear.

The buying appointments were just as thrilling, with showrooms brimming with creativity and flawless craftsmanship. Some of my standout moments came from Dries Van Noten, Givenchy, and Comme des Garçons, each offering a fresh perspective on the season ahead.

Paris itself was as magical as ever, with its effortless charm and creative pulse. Between runway shows and appointments, I absorbed  the city’s energy—from its striking architecture to its buzzing café culture. There’s nothing quite like Paris during Fashion Week—it’s a true reminder of why it remains the heart of fashion.

TRENDS

I've spotted several key trends that are sure to define Parlour X’s AW25 collection. First, certain colours are making a strong statement, including deep chocolates, luxurious bordeaux's, and bold reds. We’re still loving the unique, bold curved heels Dries Van Noten pioneered, which also appeared at the new Givenchy showroom. Lace remains a prominent feature, much to my delight, as I adore its texture. The wide-leg lace pants at Blumarine were a particular favourite, and their signature leopard print was simply irresistible for our discerning clientele.

DINNERS

Our Paris dinners took us to a number of exciting new spots, including Tekes, Baronne, Sugaar, and the Italian La Belle Époque, all part of our New Year’s resolution to explore fresh hot spots—and we weren’t disappointed. Tekes offered a culinary delight, especially for vegetarians, and we were thrilled by the addition of a new Italian menu to our beloved La Belle Époque, a place where we often run into fashion friends from all over. Of course, we also revisited our regular favourites, LouLou and Siena.

SHOWROOMS AND COLLECTIONS

We had many great appointments this season.
A few memorable highlights included Dries Van Noten, especially the shoe and bag showroom, which exuded a bold, elevated sophistication. Sarah Burton’s debut collection for Givenchy offered an exciting preview of what’s to come. I also had the pleasure of experiencing David Koma’s first collection as Creative Director for Blumarine, styled by the talented Karine Roitfeld. And the Sacai collection? It truly captivated me—I found myself wanting every single look.

RUNWAY SHOWS

We never miss the Dries Van Noten Menswear show, though this year they opted for a presentation instead. We’re also loyal attendees of the incredibly creative Junya Watanabe Menswear and Comme des Garçons Homme Plus runway shows. Both Sacai and Y-3 presented runway shows that blended men’s and womenswear during this season. This year, Patou’s show stood out for its particular sophistication—it was arguably one of my favourite Patou runway shows to date.

CONVERSATIONS

The ongoing game of 'Creative Director' musical chairs remains a hot topic, dominating conversations across every showroom.
Here’s what I predict:
Kim Jones will head to Burberry, while the Proenza founders will make their way to Loewe. Pier Paolo will take the reins at Fendi, and Glen Martens is set to step in at Maison Margiela. As for Galliano, I see him reviving his own brand.
And Slimane? Maybe his own too...
