Describe Sydney in 5 words:
Outdoors, fun, great food, laidback.
Your top 5 must-pack items?
LEVI’S 501s – I probably own five or six different colours. Sunglasses from Céline and Fendi and Australia label, Pared. Some stylish trainers (I’m currently getting around in an Acne pair and have my eye on the Céline canvas plimsolls). A great casual blazer. I am desperate for this one from Isabel Marant and some plain ribbed and fitted tees in black, white and murky colours such as mustard and lilac.
Top 3 MVP beauty products?
Dermalogica Sheer tint spf20 Very important in the Australian sun. I swap between this and a simpler version from Dove in Honey. From La Mer the Reparative Body Lotion (I got hooked on this a few years ago… it’s dangerous!), and finally my Go-To Face Hero! I only started wearing natural oils on my face this year, and I don’t think my skin has ever looked as good. I spend loads of time outdoors and whilst I drink tonnes of water, my skin was constantly dehydrated.
Where to stay?
The new Mrs. Banks Hotel that recently opened in Paddington. It’s perfect in terms of location, close to CBD, and not far from the beach and great restaurants.
Best place in town for….
Cocktails or drinks?
The Shop in Bondi Beach.
A long lunch?
Fred’s in Paddington.
A quick bite?
SHUK in Bondi.
Catalina in Rose Bay.
The most Instagram-friendly spot in town?
Name one experience, completely unique to Sydney:
Taking a sea plane from Rose Bay to Palm Beach, and then having lunch at Jonah’s is about as good as it gets in Sydney!
The perfect 24 hours in Sydney looks like…
9:00am – 11:00am: A mid-morning, Watsons Bay to North Bondi coastal walk.
11.30am – 2:00pm: Brunch/lunch at SHUK followed by a quick swim at Tamarama rocks.
2.30pm – 3:00pm: Quick freshen up and/or a rest at your hotel.
3:00pm – 5.30pm: Hitting the shops along Oxford Street, and then checking out White Rabbit Gallery in Chippendale.
11:00pm: Bed (Mrs. Banks. is conveniently just across the street).
Top three cultural hot spots?
Top three places to shop in Sydney?
Any local buys to seek out and bring home?
Go-to outfit for a day of sight-seeing?
Anything visitors should avoid?
I’d just suggest swimming between the flags at the beach… I got rescued with a friend at Tamarama years ago and the humiliation was real (lol).
What is the song that best encapsulates this place to you?
“Location” by Khalid (at least this is the song I have had on rotation for the past month driving around the city…).
