Succeeding last season’s virtual motorcycle trip, Chloe’s Clare Waight Keller was in the mood for a more urban vibe. “I wanted to bring it back to the city. It was time to clean it up,” she said backstage, wearing an oversize white tee tucked into high-waisted pants. A version of that look would come down the runway a few moments later. Waight Keller works on instinct, subtly attuned to the vagaries of her own desires and wardrobe needs. Waight Keller was content to give her customers what they already want - or at least updated versions of it. Her pleated, tiered, and lace-trimmed frocks in sorbet shades were short this season, rather than floor grazing. Also in the mix: ditzy floral prints on a camisole and an off-the-shoulder top worn with matching pants. They were a sweet compromise between the familiar Chloé and the new.   Fairytale frocks and botanical florals with frills and flounces swept the runway, Chloe SS17 commenced with a lesson in nonchalant elegance – with the multicoloured blue, featuring small floral print, cotton blouse. It slides off the shoulders, anchored by trailing drawstring ties, and features billowing sleeves with panels that graze the fingers. Continue the easy-going feel with wide-leg trousers and lace-up heels - as seen on the current IT girls of the fashion industry, including, Kate Moss, Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Nicole Richie, Kate Bosworth, Louise Roe, Olivia Palermo and Lily Aldridge.   Referencing the label’s effortlessly feminie aesthetic – short-sleeved top, cut for a boxy silhouette, and detailed with square neckline and handkerchief sleeves for subtle volume. Complete a perfect off-duty look and draw attention to the crafted print detailing of small flowers with high-waisted trousers and ankle boots. Alternatively, celebrate the effortless simplicity of French style intrinsic to the Chloe girl, with the maxi skirt. Crafted from 100% cotton, the maxi skirt is patterned with large flowers in a multicoloured motif. It sits high on the waist and falls to a fluted hem. Tuck in a white shirt for a relaxed sense of sophistication.   For a more sober summer collection with extremely flattering attitude, look to   Chloe’s SS17 sleeveless rib knit dress. Made in France, its cut to an above ankle silhouette and finished with contrasting panelling and crew neck. This striking needs little adornment – think Chloe’s Nellie mules. Also constructed in France, from a combination of suede with contrast stitching, Chloe’s mix multicoloured mules are both sculptural and feminie. This pair has a bow and tie detailing, which will perfectly partner that of the sleeveless rib knit dress, or any of the label’s fanciful garments from the SS17 runway.  A fashion hit with all of the industry’s most influences, including, Suki Waterhouse, Nadia Fairfax and Halle Berry.   Continuing the shoe trends this SS17 season and making a name for the comfiest shoes are Chloe’s Nolan slides in blue lagoon – becoming wise investment pieces these chic and stylish pair exude easy glamour. They’re shaped with outsized velvet crossover straps, and have contoured foot-beds for additional comfort. Wear them to tease out the hues of vibrantly printed pieces or with true blue denim dungarees for an easy Sunday errands run.   Making an SS17 appearance is the iconic Marcie saddlebag both in medium and small sizing. Combined with Chloe’s distinct 70s spirit and romantic/feminine touches, this style packs all the signature features of the Marcie family into a compact companion for the practical women. The blend of harmonious clean lines and curved shapes is typical of the Maison’s play on both masculine and feminine notes. The luxe supple leather and contoured design are decorated by curved X buckles and saddle stitches for chic and casual style appeal. The medium and small Marcie bag can be worn over-shoulder or cross-body and is available at Parlour x in the colour ways; Royal Navy, Tan, Nut, Plum Purple, Cashmere Gray and black to complement an wardrobe.   With its double straps and signature dangling key clasp, the Chloe black Lexa handbag is a perfect foil for SS17’s bohemian, romantic silhouettes. The sensuality of different leather textures contracts with edgy metal studding and biker belt central panel to give the slouchy bag some characteristic attitude. The choice of straps means it looks just as good hung over the shoulder as worn across body.
