With a season of new beginnings which no one had guessed at: La Maison Yves Saint Laurent, saw reconstituted and even a new haute couture house. Whichever it may transpired to be – all gossip from Hedi Slimane’s farewell was put aside for abiding truth regarding fashion. The collection showcased the iconic looks from the 80’s including the pinnacle of upstanding exaggeration, drove glittery hemlines, plunged necklines, belted waist with flourishing side-bows and more! Another shock within the collection was to the beautiful 18th-century house on the Rue de L’Université, which was conducted in bright lighting as models filed out-precisely in the style, which was standard in old haute couture houses until the 1980s. The number of outfits was even called out, as each girl appeared, yet there was nothing satirical or ironic in the presentation. From the smoothly fine fit of the leather dresses to the raven-wing sequins, to the flounced tiers of the evening dresses, this collection now one sale at Parlour X proved that Slimane can cut it and fit it with the best. Commencing the YSL accessories is the Saint Laurent cardholder, a timeless everyday accessory. It is meticulously crafted in Italy from black leather that’s stamped with label’s logo in silver. It features five card slots and a separate zip-fastening compartment for loose change, a particular favorite of fashion stars such as Nicole Richie, Rosie Huntington-whitely, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Kim Kardashian. Saint Laurent’s monogram blogger bag is perfect for after-work events, with a compact interior for just the essentials. It’s crafted from black rouge, marine and light grey leather that’s punctuated with iconic gold-tone YSL lettering, and accented with swishy tassels is truly a Carrie Bradshaw inspired look that is easy to wear.   Saint Laurent’s monogrammed wallet on chain is a polished way of keeping day-to-day essentials in check. This sleek, slim style is crafted from hardwearing grained and smooth leather, and detailed with silver, black and gold chain, designer lettering and YSL plaque. It unfastens to reveal a wealth of compartments, sloths and sleeves. The point-toe pump was present in a plethora of colours and texture – where the black Paris pair was first spotted. In keeping with the label’s 1980’s aesthetic, they have a razor-sharp silhouette and towering stiletto heel in two differing heights that will partner perfectly with a mini-length skirt and has been spotted on Suki Waterhouse, Nicole Kidman, and Gigi Hadid.
