Six days and nineteen appointments later (with a quick sojourn to Milan for the day), this Resort buying trip was very much a success! PROENZA SCHOULER Our first appointment of the season was Proenza Schouler. The Resort collection is inspired by Hernandez and McCullough’s recent trip to Cuba and this inspiration is clearly reflected in the tropical garden print that features heavily throughout the collection. Our selection includes a fantastic printed maxi dress, cashmere knit dresses and classic sleeveless v-neck blouses in black and white. Many of the silhouettes featured in the Resort collection are continued from the Winter runway show but tweaked to suit the warmer season. Proenza embraces a very bright and exotic colour palette this season! The tie-dye tshirts are back again this season and will be available in both short and long sleeve versions. We love the colourful snake printed PS1 Shoulder bags! Parlour X will be receiving both colours and both sizes next season, as well as the Classic PS11 Mini shoulder bag in black and tan. ACNE This season we are excited to welcome Acne to Parlour X. Acne has been a long-time personal favourite of mine and we are looking forward to presenting a selection of their RTW and Shoes in-store from December 2015. One of the classic Acne silhouettes is the Misty Knit. We will be receiving this style in the new cotton fabrication which will be perfect as we move from Summer to Autumn months. The Acne design team were inspired by the works of Cubist artist Albert Gleizes and post-modern artist Mario Schifano for their resort collection. Angular shapes, contrasting prints and juxtaposition of fabrics showed the progression and maturity that Acne Studios has developed. In the Acne showroom with two of the knit tops we have ordered. This style comes in two different colour ways and features the season’s signature graphic floral print. Inside the very cool Acne showroom! Acne has introduced a new boot this season, the Jens Ankle Boot. This style comes in smooth leather and suede, and is shaping up to be the new IT shoe from Acne to rival their iconic Pistol boot. BALMAIN Olivier Rouseting’s Resort 2015 collection for Balmain has taken an unexpected direction this season with the introduction of a neutral colour palette. Gone from previous seasons are the extremely bright and bold colours that epitomised Balmain, replaced with a sophisticated collection in earthy tones. The classic double breasted Balmain blazer has been reimagined this season in the neutral colour palette with colours including beige, rose and dark taupe. We love these two colours in particular! There was also a distinct 1970’s Yves Saint Laurent “Saharienne” influence and we could definitely see that inspiration in this bat-wing mini dress. Our Balmain Resort 2016 selections. The collection is not only filled with fantastic blazers, but also incredible silhouettes in mini and midi dresses. Along with the iconic Balmain muscle tee, we will also be receiving this new tank style next season. We also love this single breasted blazer in a light taupe/khaki colour! MSGM MSGM returns to its roots this season with fantastic prints, wearable silhouettes and fun fabrications. Massimo Giorgetti was inspired by the work of a Brazilian landscape architect whose design ethos states that his work should look as beautiful on the ground as when viewed from above. Inside the MSGM showroom. Our selection from MSGM this season includes a strong floral print that features on easy style pants and dresses and stripes in a mixture of different fabrications. Rebel wearing a coat we will be receiving next season. There are so many different colours, textures and fabrications in the MSGM Resort 2016 collection! CELINE Celine is one of our biggest appointments every season. With a full Resort collection to choose from, the appointments can take over six hours, however we love every minute! A shot of the inside of the courtyard at Celine headquarters. One of the most beautiful buildings and showrooms we have ever seen. This season Phoebe Philo presents a cohesive and iconic ‘Celine’ RTW collection that features striped cotton shirting, classic polo neck cashmere jumpers, tiger printed shift dresses and a jumpsuit that will most definitely be a feature at upcoming fashion weeks! My particular favourite piece from this collection is this red Houndstooth coat that Phoebe Philo herself wore to the recent LVMH awards in Paris. Super chic! We had such an incredible response from our first delivery of the Celine Belt bag that we will be ordering this style again for delivery in November 2015. Celine have introduced a new bag style this season, the Symmetrical Cross Body Bag. This is definitely a more casual offering from Celine, however it is quite ingenious as it has a flap opening on both sides. We will of course be re-ordering the highly sought after Celine Trio Bag in black in both the small and large size. The Bam Bam sandals play a major role in this season’s resort collection and will be available in both black and bordeaux, in a smooth leather. These geometric style cuffs will be available in a mixture of silver, gold and gemstones! VICTORIA BECKHAM Victoria Beckham’s Resort 2016 collection is sleek and elegant as always. This season she has more fun with colour, print and texture and the result is a lighter, more youthful offering. Our selection from the Resort 16 collection. We focus on Victoria Beckham’s strengths as a collection and have ordered her signature body-con dresses in a mixture of necklines and colours and also a fabulous sleeveless lightweight jacket that will be a fantastic trans-seasonal addition to any wardrobe. Stay tuned next week for Part 2 of our RESORT 16 SHOWROM BLOG.
