With an extraordinary venue and collection to match, Proenza Schoulder designers, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez presented their autumn/winter 2016 collection at the new Whitney Museum of American Art, in the meatpacking district, overlooking the Hudson River and the twinkling lights of New Jersey.   The designers focused on a long, lean tailored silhouette that comprised super long, super desirable low-slung full trousers with snugly sculpted, wasp-waisted jackets. It was about control and release. Fabric was pulled in via criss-cross lacing or wrapping that bandaged and tied around torsos. The designers have a mean knitwear business; to that end they showed second-skin tubes with slinky sleeves and slits offering a tantalising glimpse beneath. They arrived in pale neutrals through to jolts of chemical yellow and red. Also standout were the multi-coloured rabbit fur coats which were patch-worked together, dresses suspended from straps threaded through oversized silver eyelets, and skirts sewn together from ribbons of crepe.   AW16’s top trends have fashion stylists, buyers, editors and anyone else who is interested excited. From the commencement of the show, those important and dubbed the IT girls of the fashion industry where on high alert with pieces, such as the long-sleeved neck top which worn perfectly by the model came down the runway. An incredibly crafted top, it features lace up detailing under a v neck design, chic and ultra sexy, these top can be worn for those more formal occasions or making a statement at date night, either way it is a total sale steal! Feel like taking the top a step further and really wowing any audience, look to pairing it with the a-line skirt, also featuring an incredible lace up detailing at the front, the ¾ length skirt gives a modern and sexy elevation to any wardrobe and as an added bonus, it has gained a devoted following by those considered IT girls of the fashion world, including Aimee Song,Dani Song, Olivia Palermo and even Rihanna.   Was AW16 the infiltration of shrunken, cropped tops? With street-style photographers and editors alike reporting on this trend, no collection did it better than Proenza Schoulder. Natasha Goldenberg, Candela Novembre, and even Zanita Whittington opted for noticeably shorter styled pieces this AW16 season. The long-sleeved crop crew-neckline top with lacing detail at the shoulder in both white and black is the perfect and stylish way to elongate any look with contrasting layers. Pair the shrunken trend with a leather blazer with a longer hemline and slingback pumps or pair with short leather jacket and high-waisted midi skirt completed with a pair of ankle-strap heels.   In need of an elevated look this AW16 season? Take a look at the long-sleeved ribbed dress, featuring a flared skirt and lacing details at the shoulders, a rather chic and sophisticated style which reflects that of the key elements that was hyped-up during and after the collection showed.  Take cue from layering pro/Australian blogger Margaret Zhang and also Hailey Baldwin who has been caught wearing this style numerous times.   Concluding the AW16 collection, the short-sleeved and long-sleeved crew neck t-shirts, which Proenza is undoubtedly known for, these styles featured in the colour ways, black and white and now on sale at Parlour X are any wardrobe staple and a must-have. Take note from fashion bloggers with the largest Instagram following, such as, Chiara Ferragni, Aimee Song, Jules Sarinana and Negin Mirsalehi for all styling tips and tricks on how to make this piece work for you.
