With an extraordinary venue and collection to match, Proenza Schoulder designers, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez presented their autumn/winter 2016 collection at the new Whitney Museum of American Art, in the meatpacking district, overlooking the Hudson River and the twinkling lights of New Jersey.   The designers focused on a long, lean tailored silhouette that comprised super long, super desirable low-slung full trousers with snugly sculpted, wasp-waisted jackets. It was about control and release. Fabric was pulled in via criss-cross lacing or wrapping that bandaged and tied around torsos. The designers have a mean knitwear business; to that end they showed second-skin tubes with slinky sleeves and slits offering a tantalising glimpse beneath. They arrived in pale neutrals through to jolts of chemical yellow and red. Also standout were the multi-coloured rabbit fur coats which were patch-worked together, dresses suspended from straps threaded through oversized silver eyelets, and skirts sewn together from ribbons of crepe.   AW16’s top trends have fashion stylists, buyers, editors and anyone else who is interested excited. From the commencement of the show, those important and dubbed the IT girls of the fashion industry where on high alert with pieces, such as the long-sleeved neck top which worn perfectly by the model came down the runway.
