Arriving into Paris for the Spring/Summer 2014 shows, Rebel and I hit the ground running. Our first day consisted of shows only and everyday there after was a combination of shows and showroom buying appointments.

Here is my take on our favourite Paris shows of the season This was the first Balenciaga show, under Alexander Wang's creative direction, that featured more of Wang's design aesthetic compered with his first few seasons. The Balenciaga silhouette was ever present of course, however you could see Wang's distinct sporty touch reflected in the shorts, tank tops and bomber-style jackets.   Next stop was Carven. This season we saw a return of camouflage and bold floral prints. Add the specific Carven twist to see a show that reflected Guillaume Henry's first few playful girlie seasons. This season Rick Owens collaborated with American 'Stepping' groups to showcase his latest collection - the result was powerful, shocking and certainly unforgettable! Isabel Marant's runway shows are always one of the most highly-anticipated collections of every season and everyone from French Vogue's Emmanuelle Alt, Blogger - The ManRepeller, Taylor Tomasi Hill and Isabel's husband Jerome Dreyfuss, were there to see the show! This season saw a floaty pastel pallet very true to Isabel's original style.  Junya Watanabe is always one on my favourite shows because it never fails to appear to be a real 'show'. Hair and make-up are always so important to reflect the theme and this season Junya Watanbe's collection had a distinct nomad influence - jersey draping, fringing and some outstanding spiked ankle boots. And I managed to take some great up-close and personal shots… The Comme des Garcons show this season was located near their headquarters in Place Vendome, and this season Comme des Garcons paid homage to it's past with a retrospective runway show with each look being inspired by past collections. The Comme des Garcons show is always great for industry people watching – everyone from Azzedine Alaia, to Vogue Italy's editori Franca Sozzani, Anna Dello Russo, and Carine Roitfeld were present enjoying the show. Comme des Garcons Comme des Garcons always hosts an intimate presentation at their headquarters.  This season saw the return of their signature polkadots and ruffles. We then had to race to the outskirts of Paris for the Kenzo show - held in film studio La Cite du Cinema, the Kenzo show was just as much about the issue of conservation as fashion. Carol Lim and Humberto Leon SS14 collection was inspired by ocean conservation - namely the issue of over-fishing - and you could see their inspiration throughout the entire collection with surf, wave and fish prints coming down the runway. Kym Ellery's first ever Parisian show was held in the prestigious Place Vendome. It was a beautiful presentation with all the Australian media there to support. Felt so proud! If I had to pick my ultimate favourite collection of the entire season, its difficult to go past Valentino!!! I absolutely adored this show. Each runway exist was more beautiful than the next. The details. The embroidery… Breathtaking… The final show on our schedule was Saint Laurent. Slimane continued his 80's fascination with ruffled mini dresses, bright fluro colours, statement shoulders and sequins. Up close, this collection was another one of my favourites of the SS14 buying season.
