This season, creative director of Balenciaga, Alexander Wang, differentiates the classic designs of the traditional city bags with more industrial inspirations using stiffer calfskin leather that appears harder in exterior. The Le Dix line is inspired by the flagship Balenciaga boutique on 10 Avenue George V in Paris, and features bags that are square, structured and rigid. The Le Dix Cartable (small) can be held two ways – on the hand and shoulder as it features an adjustable and removable shoulder strap, demonstrating Wang’s attention to practicality as well as aesthetic. The Le Dix bag is the epitome of sophistication and is the must-have everyday bag of the season for the fashion aware woman. The front flap features a two-tone closing snap of palladium and brushed gold and the bag also comes with a mirror in a trapezoid case embossed with the distinguished Balenciaga Paris logo. The variations of the Le Dix include the Le Dix Zip Cartable that features a zip opening and comes in a small and large size. The Classic Town Arena bag is for the city-savvy woman. It is less hardened in structure to allow for flexibility for the busy, working woman every day. The bag features a double phone compartment inside as well as a leather-framed mirror, and has hand stitched handles with a detachable shoulder strap. This bag perfectly balances functionality with style in typical Balenciaga fashion. Alternatively, the Classic Velo Arena is a larger size than the Town for the travelling urbanite or for a more relaxed, casual summer’s occasion (or shopping session) there is the giant hip bag Arena, demonstrating Wang’s intention to cater to every woman’s needs in any situation.   For a summer’s evening out, the Navy Pochette is the perfect embodiment of high-fashion class. It is a medium sized cotton canvas and calfskin clutch with a Balenciaga Paris logo printed in washed out effect, for a sophisticated finishing touch. It has a removable strap and is an elegant, must-have accessory for any Balenciaga wardrobe.
