One of the most savvy and conscious designers on the subject of sustainable fashion is Amy Powney behind Mother of Pearl. In December, Parlour X was delighted to host a meet and greet with Creative Director and Designer behind the UK cult brand in Sydney. Having just launched a new covetable line of sustainable evening-wear pieces (just arrived at Parlour X!), the British label has been on a two year mission to convert the label into one that can be called sustainable and ethical. Totally cognisant of the environmental and social impact of fashion, designer, Amy Powney traces the supply chain back to the cotton fields and sheep farms, vetting every stage of production process from low-carbon footprint emissions in transportation, packaging and monitoring cruelty-free animal treatment, farming practices and the ethical welfare of employees.
