Mary Katrantzou’s kaleidoscopic printed pieces have cultivated a devoted A-list following. Jessica Alba was spotted donning one of her striking print-emblazoned creations at the Red Carpet Fashion Awards. Katrantzou counts Alexa Chung, Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyonce, Rihanna, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Scarlett Johannson, Keira Knightley and global fashion icons Anna Dello Russo, Miroslava Duma and Taylor Tomasi-Hill among some of her biggest fans. For Spring/Summer 2014, Katrantzou was inspired by footwear focusing on three different types – colourful sneakers with vinyl inserts, gentlemen’s brogues in polished mahogany and densely embellished evening slippers. Laces, eyelets, serrations and perforations of polished brogues were enlarged beyond their normal proportions and spiralled around the body. The long sleeve blouse dress is a signature classic silhouette of Mary Katrantzou’s ready-to-wear collections and is the perfect transeasonal piece as it can be worn alone on warmer days or with black opaque tights in the cooler months. Katrantzou’s semi-sheer blouse dress falls gracefully just below the knee and is available in two divine prints this Spring/Summer season – Pinkimon, which features graphic prints of vintage evening shoes, and Blue Maroon which depicts a sleek motif of a polished gentlemen’s brogue. Another divine dress from Katrantzou’s Spring Summer 2014 collection is the Bayly dress - a fitted, figure-flattering dress featuring a subtle cap-sleeve. The Bayly dress is available in Roush Diaz, which features digital images of feathers, beading and luxe embellishments, and Pinkimon, which is emblazoned in images of vintage evening shoes. The sleeveless Noctura top in Kreedom, features a digital-print of a heavily embellished evening shoe. This season, Katrantzou has continued with her commercially successful print-emblazoned cotton sweatshirts, which are perfect for off-duty dressing. This season’s sweatshirt is available in Tape de Casty, which features an all-over gem and bead graphic print in tones of purple, pink, green, blue, orange and yellow. The diamond pencil skirt is the perfect transeasonal piece that will transition you between seasons and also from day to evening. The Glacine diamond pencil skirt features a tromp-l’oeil take on the classic brogue. The pencil skirts are also available in Minter Skilter, which depicts a wingtip brogue print and Decora, a blown-up image of a decadent 1920s evening shoe.
