Longtime Parlour X friend Louisa Larkin-Miocevic is the healer to see, based in the Eastern suburbs of Sydney. Always stylish in her Parlour X wardrobe, X Files speaks with Louisa about her successful healing business, balancing work & personal time & her favourite Parlour X styles this season.
Tell us about your formal education and background?
I went to school at Ascham in Sydney before beginning my educational journey at Edith Cowan University in NSW. Later, I attended Columbus Collage of Art and Design in the United States, Ohio. During my travels I have studied crystal therapy and Acupuncture.
Louisa wears: Maison Poi Victoriana blouse in yellow, Ellery Ars layered lace skirt, Bottega Veneta thong mule in black, Jacquemus Le Chiquito Moyen in black, Paco Rabanne Mesh earrings & Lanvin sceaux ring from Parlour X.
You run a very successful business; Hopetoun Power Healing. Can you tell us more about what you do?
I have always strived to innovate and push the boundaries of what already exists. I began the first English speaking magazine in Beijing which I am extremely proud of. I believe this is what has pushed me to work so hard at developing my own business Hopetoun Power Healing.
I work with my clients to address any anxieties or blocks they are experiencing and revert them. Nothing gives me more joy than bringing back happiness to someone’s life.
What led you to this career path?
I have always had strong family ties to healing and well-being - my grandmother practiced healing. My father travelled a great deal while I was younger, so I often found myself in China, Brazil and Reiki in Japan. This began my journey towards crystal therapy in Brazil and a greater understanding on acupuncture in China.
Louisa wears: Ellery Florilegia jumpsuit, Bottega Veneta thong mules in black & The Pouch 20 woven in lipstick red, Valentino Rockstud wrap cuff, Ellery Alphabet letter necklace & Paco Rabanne Eight link choker from Parlour X.
What types of healing do you provide?
I provide a great deal of healing related to relationship building and mending. Many mothers and children come to me to remove any blocks to their relationship. I find it really rewarding to see these new bonds form.
What is your favourite & the most rewarding part of running your own business?
Finding out how to best aid my clients spiritually and physically brings me great joy. I play a key role in turning their lives around removing these emotionally draining blocks.
How do you balance your work & personal life?
My biggest secret is the help of my devoted partner. We both work together to support each other and our twins since our workloads are full. Some days we need to alternate who comes home later or steps up with the household chores. Balance between work and personal life is about being organised.
Walk us through your daily routine.
I begin my day with meditation in the morning to ensure I set up for the rest of the day. Throughout the day I am in contact with my clients so that I can guide them through meditation to boost their work performance. I also practice what I preach and meditate throughout the day myself.
Your life motto?
Be honest. Remain true to yourself and be positive - this will help guide your spiritual journey.
Your Parlour X wardrobe for: (what Parlour X pieces would you wear for each occasion)
Brunch with friends: The bright colours and prints on my Emilio Pucci pieces are always fun for a weekend brunch. The prints are bold and loud, just like me. My Saint Laurent camera bag is always a go-to.
Dinners out: I pair my Ellery double layered lace skirt with my favourite gold Saint Laurent crewneck knit for a dinner out. My new favourite outing bag has to be my most recent purchase from Parlour X - the Saint Laurent mini camera bag in Red/Gold.
Your everyday look: I strive to be stylish everyday for work. I have daily hair visits to Joh Bailey to ensure I have immaculate presentation. My Valentino Skirt and Ellery halter-neck top give me the ultimate chic look for work. I pair my Bottega Veneta point twisted slingback heels in black to most of my looks.
Your home wear: I love to dress up, even at home! I can often be found wearing my favourite Lanvin embroidered t-shirt, the range of Comme des Garçons play knits or my logo slides at home. I also live in my Balenciaga speedster and track sneakers.
Cocktail event: I adore my Christopher Esber orbit ruched dress in Navy, it feels incredible to wear. I always have the best luck when I am in it and love that I can wear it with the detail on the front, or reversed on the back.
Your favourite Parlour X brands?
My favourite designers have to be Saint Laurent, Isabel Marant and Paco Rabanne. The team at Parlour X know exactly what to point me to every time I come in but these have to be my go to's.
