Since Japanese designer Issey Miyake first established his label in 1970, the name has become known for its technology-inspired designs that celebrates innovation and creation with the added benefit of enhancing people’s daily lives through comfort and style. At the start of the century, Miyake introduced to the world a new line of bags and pouches called “Bao Bao” that was inspired by the theme of “shapes made by chance” and reflected the excitement surrounding the new technological age. The products, being both light and soft, fold to accommodate and transform themselves to create dynamic shapes, providing a functionality that is ideal for busy, modern, twenty-first century lifestyles. The Prism Basics collection, which portrays small triangles placed on mesh fabric, features a Small Clutch in white and black as well as a Medium bag also in white and black. The bag and clutch lie completely flat when not in use, but takes unique form when carried, in a practical and accommodating way. The handle on the medium sized bag is adjustable and to be worn over the shoulder. The Prism bag, for its intriguing simplicity, is a common choice on the international fashion blogosphere, having featured on Cupcakes and Cashmere as well as Australian favourite Sassy Bella. The Rock Small Bag also in black and white features a matte texture that is more leather-inspired than the other series. It is a smaller tote that can fit a tablet or small laptop in keeping with Issey Miyake’s trait of functionality. The base of the bag can be made flat or expandable for easier carrying options and is the ideal tote for the busy, working woman. The Platinum Chain Bag, also part of the Prism series, is a more glamour-inspired look. The surface acts like a mirror by reflecting light, portraying an embellishment on the iconic Bao Bao triangle shapes, placed on cotton fabric. The chain strap is removable and can transform from a shoulder bag to evening clutch. The bag comes in statement colours of light silver and black. For an even more compact mini purse, there is the Pass Case Little Chain Bag that is ideal for daytime occasions and comes in summery colours of yellow and green. Parlour X also welcomes the newest Bao Bao series of Lucent bags. The series is inspired by modern Tokyo and features bolt studs attached to the bag representing Japanese mechanical-inspired looks.  The largest of the series is the Lucent Pro-1 Large Matte Bag in white and black and the Lucent Pro-2 Large bag in yellow and green. It is tote shaped with a large interior and like its counterparts, lays flat when not in use. It is the ideal bag for the travelling woman as it exudes modern sophistication and practicality. The Lucent-1 Medium Bag is a smaller tote for daytime everyday occasions to suit the season, coming in colours of yellow and green. The Lucent Basics Small Bag in white or black, is more compact for day-to-night looks, and is commonly seen on women on-the-go such as Kendall Jenner and Miranda Kerr.  For a purse that is just for the essentials, there is the Lucent pouch in yellow and green, an enhancing addition to any casual and effortless summer’s outfit.
