Parisian designer Isabel Marant delivered her trademark urban rock meets casual, bohemian aesthetic for her namesake label’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection presented at Paris Fashion Week last September. Marant’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection immaculately embodies the Parisian je-ne-sais-quoi attitude that is so synonymous with the Isabel Marant brand, sending models down the runway in flouncy, baby-doll like dresses, lace camisoles, distressed denim and flirty ruffled hemlines. The show began with more relaxed, daytime outfits - in soft neutral hues of white and nude, trimmed with feminine and frilly accents- and progressively transitioned to evening looks – dominated by black, leather, over-the-top ruffles and metallic mini dresses. For footwear, models strutted down the catwalk in either black cutout booties with an embellished t-bar or a black suede moccasin/ankle boot hybrid smothered in silver grommets. Both styles destined to go viral among Marant’s devoted It girl following. The show featured a cast of leading international supermodels including Georgia May Jagger, Australian Catherine McNeil, Kasia Struss, Karmen Pedaru, Andrea Diaconu and Magdalena Frackowiak. The result of Isabel Marant’s Spring/Summer 2014 presentation is a modern, ultra-wearable ready-to-wear collection, filled with an abundance of pieces that will see you through season after season, year after year. The Ojima and Ouda tops are beautiful sleeveless sheer cotton tops featuring tonal sheer organza ruffle details, open macramé striping and a trapeze silhouette, embodying the Parisian label’s carefree, girly aesthetic. The Ojima top is available in white and slate blue, while the Ouda top is available in black, white and slate blue. Both styles can be worn all year round, pair with an Isabel Marant ruffle skirt for a laidback summer look, or throw on a leather jacket and black skinny jeans to inject a dose of rock chic attitude. The Poyle top is another divine separate featured on the runway. This long sleeve sheer mesh top features scalloped edges at the neck and cuffs. Available in black and white, the Poyle top is an Isabel Marant separate that can be easily paired with anything and will stand the test of time. Another central feature of Marant’s Spring/Summer 2014 RTW collection is romantic blooms delicately printed on frilly sheer chiffon, appearing on everything from separates to dresses. The Rieti dress features ¾ sleeves, making it the perfect transeasonal piece. The lightweight chiffon means it can be easily paired with sandals during the warmer months, and just as easily teamed with opaque tights and a coat during the cooler months. The Rodd ¾ length sleeve top features a ruffle detailing around the neckline, arms and cuffs. The Rodd top can be paired with jeans, leather leggings, a black miniskirt, or for a complete floral printed look, pair with the Rube two-tiered ruffle mini skirt, Rebel midi skirt, or the Rany pants, all cut from sheer floral printed chiffon.
