Isabel Marant’s Pre-SS16 collection keeps in tone with the casual yet sophisticated and comfortable elegance that the Etoile line traditionally exudes. The French designer’s bohemian aesthetic is clearly evident as inspiration for the collection, which is portrayed by the dainty floral patterns, feminine silhouettes and flattering hemlines tailored with precision, light fabrics and delicate detailing. This season’s 70s inspired looks are conveyed through mini-skirt varieties, paisley printed stories, and the prominence of suede, making the unique yet very much on-trend collection a popular feature in Vogue US, Elle Australia, Harper’s Bazaar and other prominent editorials. The Isabel Marant Etoile Anna A-line suede mini-skirt in camel or faded black sits at the waist and features a front snap button-down fastening. It can be paired with the Allard suede cropped jacket or the Adler long suede jacket, both also in camel or faded black, for a complete on-trend suede look. A prominent element of the Etoile Pre-SS16 collection is the Boho printed story, starting with the Isabel Marant Etoile Lexine dress. The short-sleeved, collared, shirt-dress features a button closure to the waist and two breast pockets, and comes in the seasonal colours of black, navy and burgundy. Its counterparts are the Lainey blouse, a long-sleeved open V-neck button blouse with a half button closure, and the Lyne mini wrap skirt. Pair both Boho printed pieces, which also comes in the signature story colours of black, navy and burgundy, for a composed, feminine Isabel Marant bohemian look. Alternatively, for a more sophisticated look, there is the Isabel Marant Etoile Lamia long-sleeved Boho printed collared shirt, which can be paired with the Loli straight pants, also featuring the Boho print in the statement black, navy or burgundy colour waves. The wardrobe staples of the Etoile Pre-SS16 collection are the 70’s inspired floral printed, long-sleeved Babylon collared shirts. Coming in black, multi-coloured or electric blue, the statement shirts have been loved by Emma Watson, Beyonce, Jennifer Lawrence, Kylie Jenner and Lily-Rose Depp for their lightweight and effortless elegance. Moving further into the more thematic prints of the season is the Isabel Marant Etoile Sesley wrap maxi skirt in a large floral patterned black or small floral patterned electric blue. For a shorter alternative, there is the pleated wrap Sistle skirt, in the same print, which can be paired with the Elmer reversible jacket or the Erri coat in the large floral print, for a complete seasonal Isabel Marant look. For more variations on the floral prints, there is the Isabel Marant Etoile Serek mini skirt featuring the signature Isabel Marant ruches and ruffles, coming in black, greyish blue and electric blue varied floral patterns. Its counterpart is the Serim long-sleeved blouse featuring an open V-neck and seam across the bust, also in black, greyish blue and electric blue. The floral patterned story culminates with the Seen dress, an elegant long-sleeved, shirt style dress with an open button, v-neck and seam across the chest also in the signature pattern colours of black, greyish blue and electric blue. For a simpler and less patterned look, there is the Isabel Marant Etoile Kiandra long-sleeved blouse featuring a half button and front necktie in the sophisticated colours of black and rust. Ideal for work wear, the statement top can be worn under the Ferris cropped boucle jacket in black or ecru, the Fania blazer style boucle jacket in black or ecru, or the Flenn double breasted crop boucle jacket in black, ecru or midnight, for a composed, feminine and smart look. For a work-to-play or business occasion, there is also the Karine strapless dress with a halter necktie and ruching AY waist and midi skirt in black or rust, as seen on Gigi Hadid and Taylor Swift. Another prominent sub-plot of the Isabel Marant Etoile Pre-SS16 story is the paisley patterning. The Sainey blouse is a stunning, creatively designed piece that features beautiful paisley printing while still maintaining structure through its strict shape.  Coming in black or midnight, the Sainey blouse can be paired with the Shelley wrap mini skirt, also in black or midnight paisley printing for a unique and standout organic Isabel Marant look. Alternatively, for a less matching look, there is the Shanon paisley printed mini skirt featuring a ruched waist and ruffles in black or midnight, which can be paired with the non-printed, long-sleeved, collarless Isabel Marant Etoile Daisy blouse with a pleated bub front and cuffed sleeve in black or white, for a feminine and effortlessly composed casual outfit. Jumpsuits have also been heavily introduced in this collection as exemplified by the Tad full-length, sleeveless jumpsuit, featuring the paisley print in black or midnight. There is also the Tayler paisley printed jumpsuit for a more casual, long-sleeved, shirt style alternative featuring a waistband and shorts, also in black or midnight. The Isabel Marant Etoile Trani sleeveless dress with thin straps and an empire waist emphasises the feminine silhouette while beautifully enhancing the paisley print, in either black or midnight.  Alternatively there is the Tybalt sleeveless camisole top, loved by Miroslava Duma, Selena Gomez and Anna Dello Russo, also featuring the empire waistline and paisley print in black or midnight. The oriental influences ever present in an Isabel Marant Etoile collection are thoroughly embodied by the ethnic embroidered, textured linen story starting with the Vinny Tunic, a ¾ sleeve V-neck tunic with ties at the neck featuring in black, white, midnight and burgundy to cater to any summer’s day occasion. Its alternative is the Isabel Marant Etoile Vince Top featuring long-sleeves and a tie at the neck, followed by the counterpart Vittoria mini skirt with a waistband and external pockets. Both pieces feature the signature ethnic embroidery on textured linen style cotton and come in black, white, midnight or burgundy. An Isabel Marant Etoile collection is incomplete without a series of easy-to-wear, elegant knits. The Emsley long-sleeved, crew neck striped knit in ecru/black, midnight/ecru, or ecru/red is the pinnacle of effortless style and features button detail at the shoulder for additional embellishment. Alternatively, there is the Erwan knit, featuring the addition of a ribbed polo neck, as commonly seen on Miranda Kerr, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Kristen Stewart. The Kerstin knit is loose fitting with long sleeves and a crew neck, and is a must-have basic for every fashionable woman’s wardrobe. Coming in black, ecru, light grey and amber gold, the knit can be worn over a shirt or on its own for a composed look. Alternatively, there is also the Kinsey knit featuring a V-neck on the front and back, and ribbed cuffs, for a bolder look. Culminating the collection is the statement Isabel Marant Etoile t-shirts. The Karon long-sleeved, striped, crew neck t-shirt is this season’s must-have basic coming black or white/blue, with its short-sleeved alternative, the Ken t-shirt, being commonly seen on Olivia Palermo, Cameron Diaz, Kate Moss and Emma Stone, for its sophisticated ease and casual style.
