Tell us a little bit of yourself? What empowered you to start your own business - GSL Showroom?
It is such a pleasure to be interviewed by Parlour X.
My name is Giselle - founder of GSL Group Australia. GSL is a business consulting company focusing on assisting Australian and International fashion/beauty/lifestyle labels to expand business in the Australian local Chinese market and seeding for the international Chinese market.
We launched our GSL Shanghai Showroom early in 2019 to better assist Australian fashion designers to showcase to the Chinese market.
What empowered me to start GSL - demand of Australian fashion labels to the Chinese market.
Giselle wears: Jacquemus La Maille Polo Knit Top S/S Dark Yellow with Mother of Pearl Iona Wide Leg Pants with Belt Tan, Paco Rabanne Chain Link Earrings Gold and Bottega Veneta Point Slingback 9cm Clay heels from Parlour X.
What challenged you the most throughout your career?
I am a highly adaptable person, especially in business. I welcome challenges, challenges means changes, and changes are always good for growth.
As founder of GSL GROUP Australia, describe some of your favourite and most memorable career moments to date?
For me, every day. I was really lucky to be able to work with few of the best in the industry, for example Mary Chiew and Kirstie Clements. Working with people I adore combining intelligence and passion to build something from the ground up, that's what interests me the most in business.
Giselle wears: Paco Rabanne Water Puddle Logo T-Shirt S/S Black, Spotlight Mini Mesh Multi Skirt Black/Multi and the Eight Link Choker Gold with Maison Margiela Foil Splatter Tabi Sneakers Silver and the Valentino Rockstud Wrap Leather Cuff in Tan and Black from Parlour X.
Any exciting project coming up?
We will be launching our next project in September, which I am thrilled to tell you about! Please stay tuned.
What changes do you see happening to the fashion industry both locally in Australia and internationally since COVID 19？
Things will go back to normal eventually - be prepared for that.
Describe what it means to be a leader? How do you balance business & personal time?
Business has changed so much during the last decade, what we need are good leaders, who are able to provide value to the business and inspire their people.
Lucky for me, my job and personal life are pretty much combined together. And that's what I love about it.
What’s a typical day looks like for you?
I'd dress according to my schedule of the day. For example: If I have meetings, I would wear a suit; if I have fashion events, I would go for something crazier (especially with my shoe selection); otherwise I am in my tracksuit most of the time.
Your top three styling tips?
Style is very personal thing, if I have to give 3 tips those would be:
- Be clean and polite
- Wear what gives you confidence
- Wear what makes you feel good and more like yourself
Giselle wears: Bottega Veneta Contrast Rib Knit Dress L/S Green/Mauve with Isabel Marant A Wild Shore Stud Earrings, Sener Besim Two Point Tube Bangle Gold and Saint Laurent Malibu Canvas Sneaker White from Parlour X.
Whats your favourite Parlour X brands?
Bottega Veneta, Christopher Esber, Jacquemus, and of course my dear friend Sener Besim.
What is your motto in life? Who has influenced you most in your career & personal life?
I believe in always doing the right thing. Help people as much as you can. Always be open minded.
Be focused, be determined, have faith. Take control, take chances, prepare to be alone at times, and to endure failure. Work hard in silence and let the result make the noise.
It might sound cliche, but really, everyone around me is my inspiration. Every single person has their unique strength, we should choose to see that and learn from it.
