Fresh off the tremendous success of this summer’s Fendi couture show in Rome—when Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi made models walk on water across the Trevi Fountain—the pair came back to Milan with another quirkily beautiful ready-to-wear collection. Its makings sound like an unlikely mix: utilitarian stripes and sporty knitted sock booties on the one hand, grand baroque brocades and lingerie silks on the other. But it was all deftly tied together with a result that came through as calm and curiously creative at the same time.   As Lagerfeld ribbon-tied aprons of elaborate gilded fabric over gathered pants; applied leather flower embroidery onto a khaki jacket and a trenchcoat; and segued from a take on this season’s sheer floral-print dress to apricot ’20s-style silk lingerie-like pieces with cut-out butterflies on their bodices.   Coming straight from the SS17 runway and into Parlour X, the silver and pink Fendi floral fill coupe ankle length skirt is the perfect example of the Italian fashion houses contemporary femininity. Cut to ankle length, featuring a full silhouette and woven with an array of pink floral motifs. Turn to the industries must fashionable, such as, Olivia Palermo, Louise Roe, Whitney Portman, Elle Macpherson and style it with a tucked-in blouse and heeled boots for the most ladylike take.   Take the right step into the SS17 collection, with the chicest footwear trend that has Fendi top of the pack. The chic nero/bianco sock boots are fresh from Fendi’s SS17 runway.  They stretch to a second-skin fit that secures with tonal laces, and are detailed with intricate embroidery and trims. Show them off with wide-leg trousers.  Alternatively, opt for a more ornate take on classic runners, with Fendi’s sock sneakers. The Lurex sock sneaker is shaped with skin-like wear and features adorned tonal lace detailing. Show them off with streamlined, kick-flare trousers for the perfect weekend or off-duty ensemble.
