Gently trans-aggressive, Phoebe Philo offered a range of possibilities with Celine’s AW16 collection. A brilliantly occupied spaced in which designer Phoebe Philo staged the collection – there where neon seats at the Tennis club de Paris, which was full of editors wearing items from her SS16 collection, often the exact kind of difficult designs. There was a showcase of studied “possibilities: the possibilities inherent in the wardrobe, in the woman, and in life”. The palette was stripped right back to black, beiges and yellows. While the silhouette was trapezoid, layered and liberated. Tunic dresses, sheer and oversized, were worn over wide-flared trousers and silky, 10-deier knit tops wrapped over shirts. Many were sleeve-less and left strappy and flapping. The bags were tactile, their straps wrapped around the hand like bandages. Some shoes trends seem to creep up, whether it is the metallic kind, or big glove shoes, the fact that loafers continue to be such a big retail smash, but the rise of the babouche style shoes is highly on the radar of fashion magazines, bloggers and style icons. Celine AW16 has seen the work of footwear architecture, which of course could only be achieved by the most directional in high-fashion creative designers as, Phoebe Philo. From the simple but effective silhouette of the babouche, with a pointed to in either a flat style or 105mm heel, the most artistic heel this season is also the ultimate must-have in Celine footwear. Having already adopted a devoted IT girl following, this style of footwear has been spotted on fashion’s most stylish, such as, Olivia Palermo, Halle Berry, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Kate Moss, Kate Bosworth and Margot Robbie to name a few. When it comes to cementing the ultimate in comfy and so-chic fashion trend footwear, the Celine chunky flat sandal with three straps across the foot and one ankle strap has been given great love from the street style A-listers, proving that a lower centre of gravity sure does make walking about town a chic, girl-gone-bad affair. And so, the inevitable cool factor that is the Celine sandals is now on sale at Parlour x and can’t be missed! From a more elevated look for the AW16 sale season, the Celine pump pointy toe with cone heel featuring a v-neck detailing in smooth leather has become a style obsession. It is the perfect in-between season heel that makes you feel as though you’ve still got one foot basking in the glory of summertime, while the closed toe ensures you’re way ahead of the fashion game and heading well on into autumn. Those are obvious things, and this real style has caught on like fashion wildfire with stars such as Rihanna getting involved.
