Creative Director Jonny Johansson has deemed Acne’s look in Spring/Summer 16 a “musical mashup”.  Fusing together everything he loves about music in a “spontaneous and DIY way”, the erratic designer creates a collection comprised of ripped, shredded and clawed at pieces complemented by sock sneakers and platforms that were supposed to look like they had been “built up from layers of cardboard” (Vogue.com). Jonny Johansson claims that his Acne SS16 collection, “started with me wanting to bring back the energy of music into fashion,” as demonstrated by the masculine tailoring and colour-pop CD prints. Going above and beyond telling a fashion story, the pieces in Acne SS16 play a song that include loud and erratic moments, softened by light, legato tones. Acne’s Mock Leather Bike Jacket in black features a belted hem with studded detail, three zip pockets and snap flap pocket detail at the front. The rock-star style jacket is a staple piece that can turn any casual outfit into a statement look. The Lynton Woven Skirt in black is a pencil style skirt featuring a side split and under shorts. The functional skirt is a staple wardrobe piece to cater to any outfit or occasion this season, and can be paired with the long-sleeved knitted Asha Net Top in black featuring white rope detail around the neckline and graduating yellow and orange colouring down the left arm. Following on with the knitted songs in Acne’s album this season, is the long-sleeved Alca Net Crew Neck Dress in caramel beige or black. The silhouetted, body-con dress portrays street-style elements through its mesh design, and can be worn with the Acne Jensen Suede Flat Ankle boot in dark sand, with side elasticised inserts and a pointy toe, for a complete high-street meets rockstar look. Lastly, there is the Acne Phora Chunky long-sleeved crew neck cable knit jumper. Also a seasonal staple, this functional piece comes in light beige, light grey and black to cater to any mood, occasion or outfit, resembling the song of the album that you can listen to over and over again without ever getting worn out.
